In 6/10, ILAET president Boris Berenfeld was a panelist at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, a gathering of business and political leaders to spur economic development in the Russian Federation and beyond. It featured the CEOs and leaders of such multinational and Russian corporations as Microsoft, Bank of America, Pfizer, Deutsche Bank, and Gazprom. With education a primary economic driver, Boris spoke at a panel on "New Models of Education and Training" where he said that students today, while wired to each other, still learn independently. Future classrooms will harness technologies and social networking modalities to create distributed learning communities where students build content knowledge and cognitive skills collaboratively, just as they will in the workplace.
